DYNATRON servo systems are based upon a Digital Antenna Control Unit (DACU) and a motor drive (Power Unit).

DACU consists in a microcomputer configured with a purposely designed firmware and endowed with proper interfaces, display and keyboard. DACU is directly interfaced with absolute angular encoders, with the Power Unit and with an Host Computer for remote M&C through an RS232 serial interface (standard; optional RS422 with external adapter).

In its typical configurations, DACU has the following main characteristics:

  • 19" standard rack drawer 4U high (17.6 cm)
  • Power requirements 220Vac, 50Hz, 50W max
  • Precision of 16 bits (0.005 degrees), position loop resolution
  • EPROM+RAM memory expandable up to microcomputer maximum capacity (32+8 Kbyte used)
  • Non-volatile memory for data retention (operative parameters)
  • Clock with calendar and watch-dog with automatic Reset
  • Fluorescent display (4 rows x 20 characters) for the main operative data: antenna pointing (0.01 degrees resolution), antenna command, operative mode, alarms, beacon level
  • 40-keys Alphanumerical keyboard for data input (comands and parameters)
  • Mnemonic format for commands input
  • Handling of 2 or 3 absolute encoders, with 16 bit precision (0.005 gradi)
  • Interface with an external Power Unit, able to drive 2 or 3 axes equipped with single or double speed motors (tracking/slew speed).
  • Beacon tracking RX interface, with DC voltage proportional to signal strenght; adjustable offset e slope.
  • Handling of an RS232C serial link to interface a remote M&C computer (optional RS422)
  • Operative modes: STAND-BY, PRESET, MANUAL, STEP PRESET, SATELLITE, MEMORY TRACK, AUTOMATIC STOW, AUTOMATIC UN-STOW, PROGRAM, STEP-TRACK
  • Internal self-test with diagnostic routines
  • Angular position offset with possibility of individual corrections for each sector of 11.25 degrees (with linear interpolation).
